Backyard Bliss

After years of admiring the craftsmanship of a local artist at various art shows, we decided that this was the summer to purchase one of his works of art...a double-seater Adirondack chair! We contemplated whether to buy a two-seater bench or the chair, and decided that allow more difficult to get in and out of, the chair would have to be it! We also have an umbrella that can be inserted in the middle for those hot, sunny days! Time to grab a beverage, sit back and relax...now that's the life!

Flower Child

First, let me apologize for the delay in posting pictures. The days seem to get away from me, and I continue to tell myself, 'I'll post an entry on the blog tomorrow.' As you can see, it hasn't happened. So, some of the pictures in the upcoming entries are a couple weeks old, but hopefully still enjoyable.

As for this post, Kate enjoys helping me water the flowers on our front steps and in the landscape beds. She is very independent and insists on carrying the watering can herself, despite its weight. For the most part, she does an exceptional job and the flowers are thriving. Other times we tend to water the steps. At least they stay clean!!

Fun in the Sun

With the sunshine and warm weather the past few days, we decided to bring out the pool and seize the moment! Kristen and Ashlyn joined us for a morning of fun and the first 'swim' of the year. While the girls splashed around in the pool, Kristen and I took shelter in the shaded garage and under the beach umbrella. The girls played with everything from inflatable bugs, to bath toys, to a bat and bucket. It's amazing how many things can fit in a baby pool!

Lauren's Latest Milestone

Although this happened a couple of weeks ago, I am just now getting around to posting Lauren's latest developmental milestone. She now rolls over!!! Within seconds of putting her on her back, she rolls over to her stomach. I must admit, I was concerned that she may never roll over due to her size. Yet, all that weight must give her enough momentum to complete the task. (The first photo is the starting position, the second, her finish!)

Dancing Queen

As many of you know, Kate loves music and dancing! We often have to put on her new favorite song, appropriately named 'Tantrum,' and jump around the living room holding our Wiggles guitars. In these photos, she was actually dancing to the songs on her guitar. She's got the moves!!!

I LOVE MY FOOD!

Now that Lauren has hit the 5 month mark, we have entered the next phase of feeding...baby food! In an attempt to get her to sleep through the night, which has been unsuccessful, we gave her a bowl of oatmeal and a container of squash! You would think that would be enough to sustain her throughout the night, but apparently she requires steak and potatoes...too young for that!! I don't think we'll have any feeding problems with this daughter. She loves her food!

All in a day's work

Kate was very busy yesterday, beginning at 8:30 in the morning. As I was talking on the phone in Lauren's room, Kate decided she would rearrange Lauren's diapers. I didn't pay much attention at first, but then realized she was placing the diapers in various piles and configurations. When I looked closely, she had arranged the diapers according to the character on the front (Elmo, Ernie, Big Bird, etc.)! How quickly they learn simple tasks.

Her work was not finished with diaper sorting. We had to wash her cart yesterday afternoon, scrubbing every inch with the brush. Then, sidetracked from that task, she began to create a pattern on the driveway with the water and her sponge. She's always doing something!
