Pool Party!!!

During our stay in VA on our northern adventure, we had the pleasure of spending Father's Day evening with Rob, Carey, and Greta at their residence. They were kind enough to have our family and Mark's mom and Doug over for a cookout and fun at the pool. I believe it may have been their last "hoorah" before their lives changed forever...2 kids!

Thanks for a great time!

College?

As I was updating our blog this afternoon, Kate came in to join me. We began looking at Greta's (and now Lincoln's) blog and its recent post. Kate proceeded to ask several questions regarding the pictures.

"Who's that mom?" pointing to the picture of Gardner (Rob's friend) holding Lincoln. I explained who the young man was in the photo and his relation to Rob.

She then pointed to the photo of Carey with Greta and a young boy. "Who's that boy, Mom?"

I answered, "That's Jay."

We then studied the picture of Gardner again, and then returned to the previous photo. "What's his name again?" Kate questioned pointing to Jay.

I replied, "That's Jay."

Kate then stated, "I know Jay."

I asked, "How do you know Jay?"

She matter-of-factly replied, "We went to college."

Family Travels

Now that we are home, unpacked, and somewhat refreshed from our 11-day family adventure up north, we thought you might enjoy viewing some photos from our trip. We enjoyed visiting with many of our family and friends at each stop (6 total) and apologize to those we were unable to see. My HOPE is to post pictures from a different destination each day in the upcoming week.
We began our journey in Alexandria, VA. While there, we attended the baby shower for Mark's sister, Maureen, as well as celebrated Father's Day with several "fathers" in the family. We also spent an evening with Rob, Carey, and Greta (one week before the birth of Lincoln), which will be featured in tomorrow's post.

Enjoy!

Memorial Day...2 Weeks Late!

Yes, Yes, Yes...I am extremely behind on my posts!

As many of you know, we traveled to Roanoke for Memorial Day weekend to spend time with Grandpa and Grandma (and Ryan, Kim, and the cousins). We had a great time swimming at the YMCA in the morning, visiting the winery in the afternoon (minus the girls), and watching the kids run in and out of the sprinkler. Hopefully the pictures will highlight the fun times!

Backyard Bliss

After years of admiring the craftsmanship of a local artist at various art shows, we decided that this was the summer to purchase one of his works of art...a double-seater Adirondack chair! We contemplated whether to buy a two-seater bench or the chair, and decided that allow more difficult to get in and out of, the chair would have to be it! We also have an umbrella that can be inserted in the middle for those hot, sunny days! Time to grab a beverage, sit back and relax...now that's the life!

Flower Child

First, let me apologize for the delay in posting pictures. The days seem to get away from me, and I continue to tell myself, 'I'll post an entry on the blog tomorrow.' As you can see, it hasn't happened. So, some of the pictures in the upcoming entries are a couple weeks old, but hopefully still enjoyable.

As for this post, Kate enjoys helping me water the flowers on our front steps and in the landscape beds. She is very independent and insists on carrying the watering can herself, despite its weight. For the most part, she does an exceptional job and the flowers are thriving. Other times we tend to water the steps. At least they stay clean!!

Fun in the Sun

With the sunshine and warm weather the past few days, we decided to bring out the pool and seize the moment! Kristen and Ashlyn joined us for a morning of fun and the first 'swim' of the year. While the girls splashed around in the pool, Kristen and I took shelter in the shaded garage and under the beach umbrella. The girls played with everything from inflatable bugs, to bath toys, to a bat and bucket. It's amazing how many things can fit in a baby pool!
